Lesson 177 2021

Lesson 177

God is but Love, and therefore so am I.

1. (163) There is no death. ²The Son of God is free.

³God is but Love, and therefore so am I.

2. (164) Now are we one with Him Who is our Source.

²God is but Love, and therefore so am I.

(ACIM, W-177.1:1–2:2)

The world and all things in it and about it are the effects of the belief in death. What we call our life is really a long story of our death. Life has no opposite. There is not Life that ends, there is just Life. It is like we said that we wanted to experience something besides eternal life, and the world is what we got; sadness, fear, guilt, pain, suffering, and finally the end of the body.

The good news is that we can witness these stories of death and we can believe in them, but we cannot make them true. We cannot die because we are Spirit, we are Thought in the Mind of God and God is Life. We cannot die because we are Life as well. We can stop believing in death any time we want to and death will vanish from our awareness. It seems to take time, but we can shorten that time if we choose to be devoted to the healing of our mind since the only place death exists is in our mind. We are Love so how could we also be death? It is a silly notion.

We are one with God and this is true right now, right this moment, even as we dream of being separate and in these ridiculous bodies. Like death, being separate from God is just an idea in our minds and can be undone through forgiveness. It can take a long time to give up the idea of separation, or it can take a short time depending on our dedication to correction. I choose to believe everything that Jesus tells me and I am fully devoted to accepting it all. I am also intent on practicing every lesson he gives us for that purpose.
