Review I

Lesson 58

These ideas are for review today:

1. (36) My holiness envelops everything I see.

²From my holiness does the perception of the real world come. ³Having forgiven, I no longer see myself as guilty. ⁴I can accept the innocence that is the truth about me. ⁵Seen through understanding eyes, the holiness of the world is all I see, for I can picture only the thoughts I hold about myself.

How I perceive the world is based on how I perceive myself. Through my forgiveness of the world, I become aware of my innocence. What I see within is what I see when I look out, and so, I see innocence projected. My holiness has enveloped everything I see. Where I used to see guilty people, now I see my brothers asking for love. Everyone is just trying to figure this all out. It isn’t easy and I want to help not hinder. So, instead of judging them, I envelop them in my holiness.

2. (37) My holiness blesses the world.

²The perception of my holiness does not bless me alone. ³Everyone and everything I see in its light shares in the joy it brings to me. ⁴There is nothing that is apart from this joy, because there is nothing that does not share my holiness. ⁵As I recognize my holiness, so does the holiness of the world shine forth for everyone to see.

The words everyone and everything and nothing is apart, tell me that in order for me to be a blessing to the world I must bless the entire world. Nothing or no one can be excluded and it still be whole. Jesus is also telling me that my holiness brings light and joy to me and to everyone. I’ve experienced this joy he is talking about. It just wells up from within having nothing to do with what seems to be happening around me.

Sometimes it is a quiet joy that only I notice even though it is affecting everyone. Other times, it is so powerful it makes me laugh and energizes me. I also notice that if I allow myself to get pulled into a story and forget my purpose, the joy is no longer apparent. I miss it so much that I choose again as soon as I can.

3. (38) There is nothing my holiness cannot do.

²My holiness is unlimited in its power to heal, because it is unlimited in its power to save. ³What is there to be saved from except illusions? ⁴And what are all illusions except false ideas about myself? ⁵My holiness undoes them all by asserting the truth about me. ⁶In the presence of my holiness, which I share with God Himself, all idols vanish.

This is about my thoughts and beliefs. I believe I changed myself and am no longer as God created me. As I forgive this idea and accept that I could not have separated from God and thus changed creation, I accept my holiness. My holiness heals all because as God created us, we are One. Jesus says that in the presence of my holiness all idols vanish. These idols are the images (what I see with my eyes) that I made to take the place of creation. They don’t vanish before my eyes, but the meaning I gave them vanishes from my mind.

4. (39) My holiness is my salvation.

²Since my holiness saves me from all guilt, recognizing my holiness is recognizing my salvation. ³It is also recognizing the salvation of the world. ⁴Once I have accepted my holiness, nothing can make me afraid. ⁵And because I am unafraid, everyone must share in my understanding, which is the gift of God to me and to the world.

In this lesson, Jesus connects some dots for me. He says that my holiness saves me from all guilt and then he calls this salvation. So, what I am being saved from is my guilt. Forgiveness makes even more sense when I think of it that way. I forgive all allusions to guilt in my mind and my holiness saves me and all the world with me. This reminds me of Lesson 54.

4. (19) I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts.

²I am alone in nothing. ³Everything I think or say or do teaches all the universe. ⁴A Son of God cannot think or speak or act in vain. ⁵He cannot be alone in anything. ⁶It is therefore in my power to change every mind along with mine, for mine is the power of God.

I am not alone in my ego and so all my untrue thoughts affect others but the opposite holds true as well. I am not alone in my holiness so all forgiving thoughts affect others as well. It can feel like a huge responsibility but I prefer to think of it as a wonderful opportunity to be the savior I came to be.

5. (40) I am blessed as a Son of God.

²Herein lies my claim to all good and only good. ³I am blessed as a Son of God. ⁴All good things are mine, because God intended them for me. ⁵I cannot suffer any loss or deprivation or pain because of Who I am. ⁶My Father supports me, protects me, and directs me in all things. ⁷His care for me is infinite, and is with me forever. ⁸I am eternally blessed as His Son.

I am truly blessed as a Son of God. As His Son, I lack for nothing and I suffer from nothing. I am protected and directed. But I will not know this if I think I am something other than God’s Son. If I think I am also a body, then I am no longer, in my mind, as God created me. I will no longer see myself as safe and cared for. In fact, the moment I see myself as unlike God created me, guilt enters my mind and I suffer.

The solution to all pain and suffering is obvious. I claim my good as I claim my Self. In order to do that, I must release all other beliefs as unhelpful. If safety, peace of mind, and unending joy are my goals, then I must change my thinking. Obviously, any belief that is in opposition to myself as God created me is irrelevant because it does not bring me to what I seek. When I become aware of such thoughts, I look with the Holy Spirit and let Him purify my mind. Anything less would be ridiculous.
