WHO ARE THEIR PUPILS?
Correction
2. In order to understand the teaching-learning plan of salvation, it is necessary to grasp the concept of time that the course sets forth. 2Atonement corrects illusions, not truth. 3Therefore, it corrects what never was. 4Further, the plan for this correction was established and completed simultaneously, for the Will of God is entirely apart from time. 5So is all reality, being of Him. 6The instant the idea of separation entered the mind of God’s Son, in that same instant was God’s Answer given. 7In time this happened very long ago. 8In reality it never happened at all.
Time
I love how Jesus says that it is necessary to understand the concept of time and then says something about it that is entirely incomprehensible. ~smile~ Basically, he seems to be telling us that in God time does not exist. We had an idea of separation, that idea was corrected and the correction was instantaneous. The idea and the correction happened at the same “time.” This is the problem with talking about something that does not exist. How do you do that? I think that I must simply accept that this is true and let the idea sit in my mind and be illuminated for me. Words, in that case, are not needed. There is just an understanding.
In the world of time, this is a story that happened long, long ago. Ah, we are back to something we can talk about. Sort of. We had a thought and that thought became what we are experiencing now as our lives. We think this has been going on for eons because time is part of the experience. None of it actually occurred because the idea was corrected as it was thought. But we are experiencing it as if it had occurred. We are ready to stop experiencing it and to do so we need help to back out of it. So this is what we are given through A Course in Miracles, a plan to awaken us from this dream of separation.
Atonement
But, oh my, we are back into the elusive nature of reality, because the plan for our salvation and its accomplishment were instantaneous. This is so because the plan was of God and the Will of God is apart from time. This is good news actually, even if it is not entirely understandable from our standpoint here in a world of time. The Atonement, which is the plan to save us from what never happened, has already been accomplished. Therefore, in spite of the fact that time seems to stretch endlessly before us, there is no possibility that we will fail to awaken. We already have.
