Lesson 94
I am as God created me.
Today we continue with the one idea which brings complete salvation; the one statement which makes all forms of temptation powerless; the one thought which renders the ego silent and entirely undone. You are as God created you. The sounds of this world are still, the sights of this world disappear, and all the thoughts that this world ever held are wiped away forever by this one idea. Here is salvation accomplished. Here is sanity restored.
True light is strength, and strength is sinlessness. If you remain as God created you, you must be strong and light must be in you. He Who ensured your sinlessness must be the guarantee of strength and light as well. You are as God created you. Darkness cannot obscure the glory of God’s Son. You stand in light, strong in the sinlessness in which you were created, and in which you will remain throughout eternity.
Today we will again devote the first five minutes of each waking hour to the attempt to feel the truth in you. Begin these times of searching with these words:
I am as God created me. I am His Son eternally.
Now try to reach the Son of God in you. This is the Self that never sinned, nor made an image to replace reality. This is the Self that never left Its home in God to walk the world uncertainly. This is the Self that knows no fear, nor could conceive of loss or suffering or death.
Nothing is required of you to reach this goal except to lay all idols and self-images aside; go past the list of attributes, both good and bad, you have ascribed to yourself; and wait in silent expectancy for the truth. God has Himself promised that it will be revealed to all who ask for it. You are asking now. You cannot fail because He cannot fail.
If you do not meet the requirement of practicing for the first five minutes of every hour, at least remind yourself hourly:
I am as God created me. I am His Son eternally.
Tell yourself frequently today that you are as God created you. And be sure to respond to anyone who seems to irritate you with these words:
You are as God created you. You are His Son eternally.
Make every effort to do the hourly exercises today. Each one you do will be a giant stride toward your release, and a milestone in learning the thought system which this course sets forth.
Journal
This is the only lesson that is repeated. Right there is an indication that this lesson is very important. I remember a time when I must have been listening to a recording with this lesson in its first form and my young daughter overheard it. She was riding her bike around a circular drive and each time she passed me, I heard her singing out, “I am not a body, I am free, I am as God created me. I had to smile and I hoped it was being embedded in her consciousness, though I assumed she didn’t know what it meant.
Well, neither did I, really. I mean, I understood the words and the general idea, but I didn’t really understand how it was that this was “the one idea which brings complete salvation; the one statement which makes all forms of temptation powerless; the one thought which renders the ego silent and entirely undone.” But now, I do understand. I understand that when the ego mind starts its “sin” nonsense, I know it can’t be true because I am as God created me, still. I am always as God created me regardless of the dark dreamscape of my life as a human.
“You stand in light, strong in the sinlessness in which you were created, and in which you will remain throughout eternity.”
Regina’s Tip
Remember, the “I am a body” belief is the basis of the ego thought system. If you can see that you are not a body, you render the entire ego thought system meaningless.
My Thoughts
Regina includes a Mooji video that I have seen before, but I prefer this video. I can actually do this, and I intend to practice it today frequently and see what happens. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=663&v=9yG2INLOgdA
Past Entry
I watched a TV show that revolved around people who role-played in computer games like Second Life. The people who do this create Avatars that represent them and some are very realistic, the life they make very elaborate. In this show, some of the people who do this get very caught up in their Second Life story and have virtual romances, their Avatar falling in love with someone else’s Avatar. Their feelings are very real even if their character is not.
Today while contemplating on this lesson, this show came to mind. I thought about the character Myron and how she is a second life Avatar. I had become so involved in her life that I had completely forgotten that I am the maker of the Avatar, not the Avatar itself. I have a real life outside the second life I made up, but I had forgotten that, too.
We did such a stupendous job of making our second life that it is hard to believe it isn’t real and we are so engrossed in it that it takes many lifetimes just to decide to back out of it. As I was contemplating all this, my mind began to think of other things. I thought about what I am cooking for lunch and calculating cooking times. I realized that my second life was calling to me, keeping me in the game, keeping my attention.
I brought my attention back to the purpose of the meditation. I want to remember what I am, what I am outside this virtual world I made, what I am in reality. I noticed I have a headache and thought about that for a moment. Then I thought about my leg having pain and what caused the pain and what I should do about it. Then brought my mind back to my contemplation of reality.
I see how pain is useful to the game. It is so riveting that it is hard to believe that this body is not real. When the body is in pain, it is hard to think about anything but the body, and when thinking of the body it is hard to believe that all this world with its bodies with its sensations and emotions could be an illusion. How could that be? It feels so real.
Fortunately, this game is designed with a backdoor, a way out and the Holy Spirit is the Guide Who leads me to it. The way He does this for me is to lead me to books like A Course in Miracles, and to teachers. He is helping me remember through lessons like this one, that in spite of my choice to play this game, I am still as God created me. Then He works with me as I walk through this world of make-believe. He shows me how unreal it is as I become open to seeing that.
For instance, as I think about a headache as a choice instead of a fact, the headache disappears. As I need more time to finish writing, time becomes elastic and I finish with ease even though it breaks the laws of time in second life for time to do this. I cut myself and think I should be in pain, but then I remember that pain is not real. It is just something I made up and so the pain never comes.
All these little miracles remind me that the world I am experiencing is not real. Its laws cannot affect me unless I choose to accept them as real. This is helping me to back out of my second life experience. Now, something else is happening. I am opening my heart to Jesus and he is helping me, too. As the Holy Spirit helped me to learn that I am not the Avatar, but the maker of the Avatar, Jesus is helping me to remember what I am by helping me remember that I want to know.
