Lesson 63

Lesson 63

The light of the world brings peace to every mind
through my forgiveness.

How holy are you who have the power to bring peace to every mind! How blessed are you who can learn to recognize the means for letting this be done through you! What purpose could you have that would bring you greater happiness?

You are indeed the light of the world with such a function. The Son of God looks to you for his redemption. It is yours to give him, for it belongs to you. Accept no trivial purpose or meaningless desire in its place, or you will forget your function and leave the Son of God in hell. This is no idle request that is being asked of you. You are being asked to accept salvation that it may be yours to give.

Recognizing the importance of this function, we will be happy to remember it very often today. We will begin the day by acknowledging it, and close the day with the thought of it in our awareness. And throughout the day we will repeat this as often as we can:

The light of the world brings peace to every mind
through my forgiveness. I am the means God has
appointed for the salvation of the world.

If you close your eyes, you will probably find it easier to let the related thoughts come to you in the minute or two that you should devote to considering this. Do not, however, wait for such an opportunity. No chance should be lost for reinforcing today’s idea. Remember that God’s Son looks to you for his salvation. And Who but your Self must be His Son?

Journal

“Accept no trivial purpose or meaningless desire in its place, or you will forget your function and leave the Son of God in hell.”

It is in my power to bring peace to all of the Sonship through my forgiveness.  What could possibly be more important than that? Is it more important that I be right? Is it more important that I be a success in the world? How about that I fulfill a dream of the perfect relationship? Could upholding the image I prefer to present to the world will be more important than bringing peace to every mind?

What do I put in the place of this function? Watching TV? Shopping? Visiting with friends? Projecting guilt onto others, accepting guilt as my due? Making plans on my own, playing the victim? Indulging fear? These are the kinds of things I have done in the past rather than accepting my function as the light of the world through forgiveness. Most of those I have left behind and the rest are going that way as quickly as I am able.

How do I save the world? By accepting salvation myself. As Jesus has told us, my only function is to accept the Atonement for myself.

Regina’s Tips for this lesson.

Regina wrote this: I have rewritten today’s lesson for me in order to have more motivating power for me. My lesson is:

The light of the world brings peace to every mind through my forgiveness. I am the means God has appointed for the salvation of the world. I am purity, pure peace, pure love, truth unadulterated. That is my nature. My nature is realized through forgiveness.

As I look at this, I feel motivated. Each time I say it to myself, my heart opens. It is the right version of today’s lesson for me. Feel free to find the right version of today’s lesson for you. And then, let additional related thoughts come to you throughout the day.

My thoughts

I relate to forgiveness and to being the light of the world, and to be the salvation of the world. I relate to the fact that I am holy. So I think that the phrasing of today’s prayer works for me.

The light of the world brings peace to every mind through my forgiveness. I am the means God has appointed for the salvation of the world.

Past Entries

How can my forgiveness bring peace to other minds? Could it be that there are no other minds, but rather there is one mind? Could it be that my mind is part of God’s and I am very holy? Could it be that my holiness envelopes everything, and that there is nothing my holiness cannot do? Let me forgive any thought that is not in alignment with this. Through my forgiveness, that is, my desire to know only the truth and nothing else, I light the world with the truth, and I bring peace to the world.

I notice the thoughts that are not peaceful and I ask that they be removed from my mind. This is the symbol of my desire to awaken from the dream of separation. I do this over and over and my mind begins to remember that desire, and as my mind awakens, the entire mind awakens, we all awaken. My mind is part of the Christ Mind and so is everyone else’s. So when I say yes to awakening, when I forgive all that blocks my awareness of my true self, I awaken the Christ Mind.

I will accept no trivial purpose or meaningless desire today. I will give no attention to the ego desire to promote fear and guilt. I will remember my holy purpose instead. I am the light of the world. Through forgiveness I will save the world. I will save the world while I teach and counsel. I will save the world while I talk to friends.

I will save the world while I drive and while I am vigilant for the “idle” thoughts of the mind so that they can be removed. I will save the world while I look at the fear for my loved one and ask for another way to see him, when I not let the returning fear discourage me, but continue to choose again. I will forgive and through my forgiveness I will bring peace to the world.

  1. This lesson does bring up earlier lessons as you pointed out Myron. ” I am the light of the world, my holiness envelops everything I see, and I AM the light of the world that brings peace and salvation through forgiveness.” In the past these words kind of ran together, like blah blah blah peace, love to me. Sometimes when I read them I conjured up other’s “offensive” actions to forgive “them” thinking I was special because I did that. But that was beautiful because in doing that I was beginning to awaken to the teachings of Jesus. I am now starting to learn there are no “actions” to forgive. There are “actions” but they are part of the dream. Every action belongs right where it is in the tapestry of our dream and does not need my judgement. The tapestry of our dream is beautiful, it is alive and it is growing according to how our thoughts manifest. Our thoughts create this world so when I react with thoughts of judgment I merely continue to create separation because of judgement. But that is beautiful too because that belongs there today as part of my growth in the tapestry. LIke a seed pictured in the tapestry I grow a tendril, then a small root, then I poke up above the soil. Who would judge the seed under the ground as “bad?” The tapestry is alive with life reaching towards God like a small root reaching fort he sun. We judge the seeds, and the roots and the trunks of “others” reaching hands. That does not feel peaceful. The only alternative to judging is to be still within and let God’s light shine through me seeing only the innocence in “others.” That is how I now see holiness, peace, love and forgiveness because I am the seed that is opening and putting out a tendril above the soil reaching for the Son. Thank you Holy Spirit. Thank you Myron.
