C 15: VIII. The Only Real Relationship, P 6

VIII. The Only Real Relationship, P 6

6 In the Holy Spirit alone lies the awareness of what God cannot know, and what you do not understand. It is His holy function to accept them both, and by removing every element of disagreement, to join them into one. He will do this because it is His function. Leave, then, what seems to you to be impossible, to Him Who knows it must be possible because it is the Will of God. And let Him Whose teaching is only of God teach you the only meaning of relationships. For God created the only relationship that has meaning, and that is His relationship with you.

All I can say is that I am grateful for the Holy Spirit. In our desire to experience separation, we got ourselves into an impossible situation. We came to believe that we did accomplish the impossible and left ourselves with no way out of it because what we believe is true for us. So now we believe a lie and because we believe it, we cannot undo it. What we have done is unknowable to God because it is not of Him. He does know that His communication is blocked and so He created the Holy Spirit and Gave It the function of interceding.

The Holy Spirit does for us what we cannot do for ourselves. He heals the split mind. He does this by accepting what we think and what God knows and then removing the element of disagreement so that they will be joined again. Jesus refers to this as healing the mind and at other times as purifying our thoughts and as undoing the ego. I just think of it this way. I have a thought that is not helping me to awaken and I give it to the Holy Spirit. He looks at it with me and takes away the part that is not true, or he simply removes the thought from my mind. We do this until I am aware of nothing in my mind other than what I think with God.

I have had some very contentious relationships in the past, and in every instance that I gave that relationship to the Holy Spirit, it has been healed, and sometimes in the most miraculous ways. I think back on those relationships and I can hardly believe the shift that occurred. I went from hating the individuals to loving them. Sometimes it was a slow but steady shift, and other times it was instantaneous. But always, the healing has been complete and permanent. The healing was not just in my mind, but in the mind of the other as well.

Over time, I have learned that I want all my relationships to be completely healed. I feel very uncomfortable now when I am not feeling love for the other person whether it is someone I know well or just someone I run into occasionally. Jesus says that I should let the Holy Spirit teach me the meaning of relationships. This is what I have been doing. The only meaning that I can articulate is of love. There is nothing else I want of a relationship. I want to love the other as I love God. Maybe that it what Jesus means when he says that God created the only relationship that has meaning, and that is His relationship with you. I emulate that relationship with others in my life. Just love meeting love.
