ACIM Lesson 340
I can be free of suffering today.
1. Father, I thank You for today, and for the freedom I am certain it will bring. ²This day is holy, for today Your Son will be redeemed. ³His suffering is done. ⁴For he will hear Your Voice directing him to find Christ’s vision through forgiveness, and be free forever from all suffering. ⁵Thanks for today, my Father. ⁶I was born into this world but to achieve this day, and what it holds in joy and freedom for Your holy Son and for the world he made, which is released along with him today.
2. Be glad today! ²Be glad! ³There is no room for anything but joy and thanks today. ⁴Our Father has redeemed His Son this day. ⁵Not one of us but will be saved today. ⁶Not one who will remain in fear, and none the Father will not gather to Himself, awake in Heaven in the Heart of Love.
Choose Happiness
I anticipate the day when I am forever free, but I am also happy that today I moved from discomfort to peace. Each day I have that opportunity and most days I am happy but if not, it is up to me to choose happiness. Each time I make that choice it is through forgiveness that I do so. That I want freedom insures I will have it. If I am suffering it is because I want something else more than I want to be free.
The Dragon That Swallowed You
One of the ways we protect that which is hurting us is to hold onto our projections. If we are aware that we are projecting responsibility for our problems onto the world, we can change things. If we insist that something outside us is our problem then we are stuck with the problem. I was talking to someone today about how hard it can be to recognize our own projections. She quoted someone as saying that you can’t see the dragon that swallowed you.
Root Cause Inquiry
Isn’t that the way it feels sometimes when you are in the middle of a problem? Even those of us who accept that our problems must be solved within our own mind can become confused. When I have a problem and I can’t find the cause in my mind, I do a root cause inquiry with the Holy Spirit. The dragon may have swallowed me, but it didn’t swallow the Holy Spirit. So, He can help me see the cause and then I can ask Him to heal my mind.
Inward Path
Sometimes I can ask someone else to look with me. A friend might be able to see more clearly what is obscured to me. One way or another, I choose freedom and my choice strengthens us all. Just thinking about this certain solution brings me joy. Jesus tells us that the only way home is an inward path. All other paths bring us more deeply into the illusion. In Chapter 30 he says this. “³Learn now, without despair, there is no hope of answer in the world.” (ACIM, T-31.IV.4:3) I have learned to bring all upsets inward, and there I find the cause and there I forgive it.
