Lesson 18 2021

Lesson 18

I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my seeing.

W-pI.18.1. The idea for today is another step in learning that the thoughts which give rise to what you see are never neutral or unimportant. 2 It also emphasizes the idea that minds are joined, which will be given increasing stress later on.

W-pI.18.2. Today’s idea does not refer to what you see as much as to how you see it. 2 Therefore, the exercises for today emphasize this aspect of your perception. 3 The three or four practice periods which are recommended should be done as follows:

W-pI.18.3. Look about you, selecting subjects for the application of the idea for today as randomly as possible, and keeping your eyes on each one long enough to say:

2 I am not alone in experiencing the effects of how I see _____.

3 Conclude each practice period by repeating the more general statement:

4 I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my seeing.

5 A minute or so, or even less, will be sufficient for each practice period.

We have been learning that what we see with our eyes appears as a result of our thoughts. This may feel quite radical but it is what is actually happening and it is to our benefit to accept it. The only thing we need to do once accepted is to watch our thoughts with the Holy Spirit so we can learn to recognize those that are not true and release them. In this way, we begin to experience a healed mind and a healed world.

Today’s emphasis is on how we see what we manifest in form through our thoughts. Even once something has been manifest we still have a choice that determines how we are affected by it. It has been interesting to me to hear how people are experiencing the pandemic. Some are very afraid and some are angry. Some, though, have used this time to great effect. We can all experience the same situation and yet how we feel about it is determined by our thoughts about it.

Jesus is adding another component to this. He says that just as we are not alone in seeing the images we projected as our thoughts, we are not alone in experiencing the effects of our seeing. This is true because our minds are joined. This is why I am staying true to love as much as I can and when I do view an experience from the perspective of fear, I quickly look at it with the Holy Spirit and release it. I am not alone in the effects of my thoughts, I am affecting the entire Sonship, so I will be mindful of the thoughts I am adding to the mind we all share.
