ACIM Lesson 219

I am not a body. I am free.
For I am still as God created me.

1. (199) I am not a body. ²I am free.

³I am God’s Son. ⁴Be still, my mind, and think a moment upon this. ⁵And then return to earth, without confusion as to what my Father loves forever as His Son.

⁶I am not a body. ⁷I am free.
⁸For I am still as God created me.

(ACIM, W-219.1:1-8)

Each time I bring my mind from the world to the silence of the mind, I return with a fresh perspective. I don’t see the world as a place where I can get my specialness reinforced, where I can get my personal needs met at someone else’s expense. I don’t see the world as a place where I can project guilt, where I can defend myself, where I am constantly under attack.

Here is what I do see. I see a story that is showing me what it is in my mind that still needs correction. It is showing me a progressively happier world, not because the world has changed, but because my mind has changed and that is where the world exists. I will remember to be still a moment frequently today. I am writing myself a note so that in the busyness of the day, I won’t overlook this simple and powerful tool.

Ken Wapnick suggested that we use this time to ask our decision-maker in our minds to think about the truth that we are God’s Son, and not the ego’s. I like that thought. In several places in the Course, Jesus says to direct the mind, and so that is what I will do. I will direct it to choose forgiveness rather than attack, to choose to focus on my true identity rather than on the image made to represent a false self.

This morning a YouTube meditation of the first 50 lessons was suggested and I used it to start my day. I opened it in full screen and let my mind absorb it. It was lovely. Here is the link in case you are interested.
